California Family sues Instagram?
How old were you when you got your first phone? How young is too young? According to Global News, a family from California is sueing Instagram. The family claims that teach and social media help fuel their daughters eating disorder and self harm. the family claims that their daughter was able to create her first Instagram account at the age of 11, two years before she reached the platform’s minimum age requirement of 13. According to the family their daughter was introduced to dangerous posts that promoted eating disorders. Again according to Global news the lawsuit describes the daughter to be as a "confident and happy child" before being expose to instagram and other social media platforms, but says that now the 19 year old has been hosptalized.
My question is now should parents be more strict when monitoring their children social media account? I think that kids are getting phones way too early, and are being exposed to dangerous posts on social media way to young. Social media is a fun, but also a very dangerous place and parents should be aware of what there kids are looking at. I think this family should look at their parenting and their life style before they start pointing fingers and blaming others, I get social media exposed this girl at a young age to dark things, but the parents should have been more aware of what was really going on.
