The Struggle with Inflation
According to The Global News, "A growing number of Canadians are struggling to afford groceries as prices for basics like pasta, bread and meat all soar, as inflation goes up." So first what is inflation? Inflation happens when prices broadly go up. At any given time, the price of goods will fluctuate based on shifting tastes. The question is why is inflation so high in Canada? According to the Global news there are many reasons why inflation is so high. These reasons include COVID-19, natural disasters, supply-chain disruptions, and rising global tensions.
Gas prices are at an all time high and with inflation rising people are struggling to buy basic essentials. As inflation goes up more and more will continue to struggle. Another struggle is that wages also haven't also been keeping up in inflation so the struggle to survive on a small budget is there. As I get older I understand why mom would always say theirs food at home. In Canada we are in a crisis, people are losing jobs, inflation is crazy, and overall nothing is affordable, when will we see a change? Vancouver is one of the most expensive places to live, how can people afford to live here? I remember I started to notice inflation when I went to the grocery store, all of a sudden $20 only got me 3 items. Money really doesn't grow on trees.
