Seems like where never going to escape pandemics! COVID still isn't over but now monkeypox is now in the news. According to the (Edmonton Journal,) "Like COVID-19, monkeypox is caused by a virus, but a different kind: COVID is caused by a coronavirus made of RNA, while monkeypox comes from what’s known as a poxvirus, made of DNA." Luckily, for us Monkeypox was identified in a lab nearly 70 years ago, so it isn't new. So what are the symptoms for monkeypox? Again according to the ( Edmonton Journal ) the symptoms for monkey pox include, fever, aches and swollen lymph nodes, and a rash appears that may spread. Canada has confirmed 77 cases of Monkeypox currently. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada Monkeypox isn't a treat to the public. Monkeypox is found in Central and West Africa. Monkeypox and Chicken pox are pretty similar, they both have the same symptoms but monkeypox is a lot worst.
When I first read a headline about Monkeypox it did worry me. After living in a pandemic for the past two years its scary to think a whole new virus could potentially spread. Covid-19 is still around and I couldn't imagine what would happened if we went into lockdown again because of Monkeypox. I hope we can avoid this virus as much as we can.
