Roe v Wade What's Happening?
Roe vs Wade what is it? According to "(HISTORY.COM) "Abortion was made legal across the US after a landmark legal ruling in 1973, often referred to as the Roe v Wade case." Roe v. Wade is a 1973 lawsuit that led the Supreme Court making a ruling on abortion rights. Jane Roe, was an unmarried pregnant woman, she filed suit on behalf of herself and others to challenge Texas abortion laws. A Texas doctor joined Roe's lawsuit, arguing that the state's abortion laws were too vague for doctors to follow. At the time, abortion was illegal in Texas unless it was done to save the mother's life. It was a crime to get an abortion or to attempt one and if you were caught you were punished. So after all this the question is What's the current challenge to Roe v Wade? The Supreme Court is considering a case which challenges Mississippi's ban on abortion after 15 weeks. If the court rules in favor of Mississippi, it will effectively end the constitutional right to an abortion, and make abortion rights a decision for individual states once again.
This is terrible. If the Supreme Court strikes down the 1973 ruling, then abortion could be banned in almost half of US states. Why is this important? A women should get to make her own decision about her body not someone else. My body my choice. Abortion is a human right, once we take that away women are going to go to extreme lengths to get an abortion. Women will die, in receiving unsafe abortions. What happens to a women if she gets raped, is she forced to keep the baby? These laws don't make sense and they are so frustrating. Why does an another person get to decide what someone else does to their body?
